Alice Longfellow

Alice Longfellow (1850-1928) was the eldest daughter of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, whom Jewett admired. Apparently quite athletic, Longfellow vacationed with Jewett and Fields upon occasion, swimming and rowing on Mouse Island in Maine or sledding in New Hampshire.

Alice Longfellow was an advocate for women’s education and was instrumental in the founding of Radcliffe College.
