Elise’s Photos of the Jewett House

Sarah Orne Jewett often mentioned the Tysons’ comings and goings in letters to close friends and family. She wrote to Annie Fields in the summer of 1901, “Mrs. Tyson has gone down to the house…It is a lovely day to be out of doors and to see about her planting &c.” [MS Am 1743 (255), Houghton Library, Harvard University.
