Emily Tyson was the widow of George Tyson. Tyson had been a partner in a China merchant trading firm with its roots in the opium business, and later through another partnership was an official of the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroad.
Emily was Tyson’s second wife. In 1897 she was living at 314 Dartmouth Street, in Back Bay, not far from Jewett and Fields’ Charles Street home, with stepchildren George, Jr. and Elizabeth (Elise) Russell Tyson. (A third stepchild, Russell, had married). Emily also owned a home in Pride’s Crossing, north of Boston.
