It is unknown whether this cat was of the Jewett or Whitman household. Sarah Wyman Whitman did write to one Charlotte G. Greeley, “Thanking for catnip sent to Bay, the cat,” December 9, 1889. The photograph is in the Sarah Orne Jewett House Museum Guest Chamber.
