Teddy as a Boy

Theodore Jewett Eastman (1879-1931), whose nicknames included Teddy (used most often), Stubby, Stubs, and Thidder, was the son of Sarah’s sister, Caroline “Carrie” Jewett Eastman. When Sarah and Mary Jewett inherited the Georgian manse, Carrie and her family moved into the house next door on the compound. Young Teddy grew up close to his aunts.

As a boy, Teddy shared with his aunt Sarah the love of the outdoors.
