Teddy’s Room

When Mary Rice Jewett died in 1929, the house passed to Teddy. On his death in 1931, Teddy in turn bequeathed the house to Historic New England, ensuring its preservation. He bequeathed Sarah Orne Jewett’s letters and papers to institutions of higher learning, notably and substantially his alma mater, Harvard University.
